MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Three men were injured in a shooting early Friday morning that stemmed from an argument and an attempted robbery in northeast Memphis, police said.
Memphis Police (MPD) reported that the shooting spanned two crime scenes — one on Fairoaks Avenue off Jackson Avenue, the other about 2 miles away on North Graham Street. Two of the three people shot suffered critical injuries, while the third shooting victim was expected to be OK, police said.
MPD said it all started when officers responded just before 1 a.m. to an assault on Fairoaks Avenue, where they found two men had been shot.
While police investigated, they got another call about another man with a gunshot wound on Graham Street. That man told MPD that shots rang out during an argument and an attempted robbery.
According to a police report, one of the shooting victims told investigators that he was "hanging out with some guys" when they started arguing. "Then the next thing he knows he hears shots. He got in his car and drove home ... and felt he was shot."
