The Chicago Park District and ComEd will host the annual Switch on Summer celebration from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, celebrating the upcoming reactivation of the Buckingham Fountain with an afternoon of free family-friendly activities.
Now in its eighth year, the event will feature a number of special guests, including Chicago First Lady Amy Eshleman, and Brighton Park resident Eugene Rodriguez, who won ComEd's sweepstakes and will have the honor of activating the iconic fountain.
This year's celebration includes giveaways, food trucks, appearances by popular children's characters and live music performed by Sixteen Candles and Angel Meléndez & the 911 Mambo Orchestra. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about free community resources such as summer STEM education programs from ComEd and its partner organizations.
