A touch of wizardry is set to enchant Chicago’s Magnificent Mile as a Harry Potter-themed flagship store prepares to open at 676 N. Michigan Ave. This highly anticipated retail destination, backed by Warner Bros. Discovery, will occupy the former Express storefront and aims to attract both locals and tourists when it officially opens its doors on April 10, 2025.

Spanning 12,300 square feet, the immersive shop will offer fans a chance to experience the Wizarding World in a whole new way. Visitors can expect interactive exhibits, film props, and unique photo opportunities. The store will feature themed sections, including a House Pride area filled with Hogwarts-inspired merchandise, a Honeydukes-style confectionery, and an exclusive Chicago-themed collection.

A major highlight will be the largest Butterbeer Bar in the U.S., designed with a nod to Chicago’s historic speakeasies. Guests can sip on the iconic wizarding beverage while indulging in special treats such as Butterscotch Popcorn.

The store’s decor takes inspiration from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, incorporating a moving stained-glass mermaid window, a suspended broomstick display, and a dazzling Golden Egg centerpiece. A maze-patterned floor will guide shoppers through the magical retail experience.

This flagship location builds upon the success of previous Harry Potter pop-ups in the city, such as the "Very Harry Winter" event at Neon Gardens and "Harry Potter: Magic at Play" at Water Tower Place. By establishing a permanent store, Warner Bros. Discovery aims to create a lasting haven for fans while contributing to the revival of Chicago’s retail landscape.

Sarah Roots, Executive Vice President of Warner Bros. Worldwide Studio Tours and Retail, emphasized that the store will be more than just a shopping experience- “it will be a destination that brings fans closer to the magic while celebrating Chicago’s cultural influence.”

With anticipation building ahead of its grand opening, the Harry Potter Shop Chicago is expected to draw visitors from near and far, potentially casting a much-needed revitalizing spell over the Magnificent Mile’s retail scene. (For more info, visit: harrypotter.com
