On Tuesday, March 28, at a press conference in the downtown headquarters of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, NASCAR announced that the largest health insurer in Illinois would be the founding partner of the upcoming Chicago Street Race.
President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Stephen Harris, noted their commitment to support the city and Chicagoans. “This partnership demonstrates our ability to support the City of Chicago and the power of the community to drive long-term change," said Harris. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has local initiatives including opening three Blue Door neighborhood centers in the South and West Loop that hosts programming aimed at improving community health. Blue Door employs nearly 500 people.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Executive Director of Community Investment & Communications, Tonita Cheatham, reiterated the organization's mission to making a positive impact: "This partnership shows our commitment to community engagement and to create health awareness. We do well by doing good."

NASCAR Vice President of National Sales, Matt Lawson, recognized the positive contributions of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to communities and their influence within the city. Chicago Street Race President Julie Giese spoke about her excitement for the highly anticipated race which will take place steps away from their new partner's headquarters, "It's all about making a positive impact on communities, and Blue Cross Blue Shield is a leader in giving back to the communities they serve."

The new partnership will ensure Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois has official presenting, marketing, and promotional rights for NASCAR's entire weekend of premier events. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois will be given a visible brand presence in the founding partner section of the festival along with the historic Buckingham Fountain, which will mark the race’s start and finish line.
