Chicago Children's Theatre announced in an Aug. 27 news release that it plans to convert its parking lot into an outdoor drive-in for a socially distanced production this October.
The space, located at 100 S. Racine St. in the West Loop, will be used to host "Drive In Theatre: Beatrix Potter and Friends," a re-creation of the classic show designed for outdoor movie and online streaming settings. Performances are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 1-18.
Tickets go on sale starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, and can be purchased online at chicagochildrenstheatre.org. Each ticket costs $45 per car for up to six guests, or, alternately, per socially distanced "pod" of families who prefer to walk to the drive-in and watch the movie with blankets or folding chairs.
Attendees are encouraged to reserve tickets early, as space is limited to a total of 17 pods and/or cars.
