The Chicago Children's Theatre and the Negaunee Music Institute at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra have teamed up to create "Maybe Something Beautiful," a virtual short film based on a children's book about a young girl who brings positivity to her neighborhood through her artwork.

The 13-minute film, told in English and Spanish, is inspired by the true story of Rafael and Candice López, who created the Urban Art Trail murals that transformed the alleys of San Diego's East Village into works of art. The film can be viewed for free online via CSOtv and CCTv: Virtual Theatre and Learning from Chicago Children's Theatre.
During the film, a quintet of CSO musicians will perform pieces from Latin American and South American composers.
“Chicago Children’s Theatre and the CSO have created something beautiful here,” said F. Isabel Campoy, co-author of "Maybe Something Beautiful," in a theater news release. “The CSO took the magic wand from Rafael López and transformed color into music, art to sound, ‘oneness’ to community. The script tells the story the way many people in our country express themselves today. I embrace it completely. Chicago Children’s Theatre’s beautiful puppetry and Jasmin Cardenas’ warm voice are charming to follow through the streets of San Diego, or actually, any street now.”
