In four concerts starting Thursday, May 4, through Tuesday, May 9, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will present performances of Antonio Vivaldi’s riveting opera “Gloria.” Three additional Vivaldi works will be performed at each concert, including “Sinfonia” from La Senna festeggiante — an opera and dramatic cantata written for three voices —“Magnificat” and “Kyrie.”

Milan-based music specialist Giovanni Antonini will conduct each performance. Accompanying voices include sopranos Amanda Forsythe and Yulia Van Doren, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, and the Chicago Symphony Chorus. James K. Bass — a Grammy Award-winning conductor and singer — will be guest chorus director.

For those wanting to learn more about the music beforehand, Preconcert Conversations with Laura Prichard will begin 75 minutes prior to each performance in Orchestra Hall and are included with each ticket.
