Chicago will play host this October to native son Harrison Ford, as he is slated to receive the E.O. Wilson Legacy Award for Transformative Conservation Leadership during the Field Museum’s Half‑Earth Day event. This evening reception on October 29, held after a free day of panels and talks open to the public, will bring together conservationists, scientists and the general public to celebrate biodiversity and stewardship.

Ford’s selection for the conservation honor complements earlier recognition of his artistic legacy: in January 2024, the Critics Choice Association presented him with their Career Achievement Award in acknowledgment of his extensive contributions to film and television. The pairing of those honors, one rooted in performance, the other in environmental advocacy, reflects how Ford has long bridged art and purpose.
