Ingalls Development Foundation hosted its 50th Annual Benefit Gala – A Centennial Celebration, featuring special guest, Diana Ross, who wowed the crowd on Saturday, Sept. 9. The event kicked off the centennial celebration of UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital with nearly 900 guests at the Tinley Park Convention Center.

Honorary gala committee co-chairs, Henry and LeNita Johnson, welcomed guests before the performance began at 8:45 pm. Attendees danced and sang the night away as Diana Ross performed some of her greatest hits, wearing her signature dramatic gowns.

Among the attendees were Tom Jackiewicz (President, University of Chicago Health System); Mark E. Anderson, MD, PhD (Dean and EVP for Medical Affairs, The University of Chicago); Michael Antoniades (Interim President, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital); Saif Nazir, MD (Chairman, Emergency Medicine, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Medical Staff); Monica Gordon (Cook County Board Commissioner); Mayor Christopher Clark (City of Harvey); Mayor Ronald Gardiner (Village of Glenwood) and Mayor Roger Agpawa (City of Markham).
All monies raised will benefit UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial in support of its mission to improve the health of the communities it serves. Proceeds raised from the event fund clinical programs and services, foundation scholarships, and capital projects for rehab patients at UChicago.
This event is one of the longest-running, most successful community hospital fundraising events throughout the Chicagoland area, raising more than $18 million to help patients get the support they need. Past headliners have included world-class entertainers like Chaka Kahn, Patty LaBelle, Jennifer Hudson, Kenny Rogers, and Tony Bennett.
Located approximately 20 minutes from Hyde Park, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is a nationally recognized healthcare facility in Harvey, IL, which in 2016, joined with the University of Chicago Medicine. The merger combined compassionate community hospital medicine with the expertise of a leading academic medical center. Ingalls provides leading-edge care in cancer, stroke, cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, gastroenterology, gynecology, urology, rehabilitation, and mental health, among a range of other specialties in Chicago’s Southland.
