Due to the ongoing pandemic and the city’s COVID-19 restrictions, Lincoln Park Zoo decided to shut down its facilities this week and will remain closed for the next two months, with plans to reopen on March 4.

The zoo, whose indoor facilities have been closed since June due to the city’s COVID-19 restrictions, made the difficult decision to temporarily close its outdoor facilities as well amid concerns that staying outside in current weather conditions poses a threat to the safety of staff and guests.

Lincoln Park Zoo, however, currently offers a loophole to its members, allowing limited access for two-weekend slots: Jan. 9-10 and Feb. 27-28. Members can reserve zoo tickets here.

For the rest of the public, the zoo launched a series on YouTube earlier this week titled “Stay Tuned at the Zoo,” featuring some of the animals from the zoo, as well as providing animal-friendly activities families can try together during the temporary closure. Stay tuned in through the zoo’s free online episodes here.
