Millennium Park Summer Film Series brings the movie magic to Pritzker Pavilion

Chicago, brimming with rich cultural events, celebrates the return of its legendary Millennium Park Summer Film Series. The popular event, entertaining locals and tourists alike for over 20 years, is set for another engaging season in 2025, Choose Chicago reports. Attendees can bask in free events within the stunning landscape while enjoying film showings.

The Millennium Park Summer Film Series started at the beginning of July and will run through Tuesday, August 19. Screenings will happen on Tuesday evenings and begin at 6:30 p.m., set against Chicago's iconic skyline, which is perfect for a memorable summer night. Featuring award-winning, family-friendly, and cult favorites, it promises an exciting lineup for diverse audiences.

According to WTTW, the films are displayed on a 40-foot LED screen in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, boasting state-of-the-art sound for an exceptional viewer experience. Guests are welcome to arrive as early as 5 p.m. with blankets, chairs, and picnic baskets.

Featured upcoming movies include:

  • July 15: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989, PG-13)
  • July 22: Love & Basketball (2000, PG-13) — 25th anniversary
  • July 29: The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014, R)
  • Aug. 5: My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997, PG-13) — A Chicago classic
  • Aug. 12: Wicked (2024, PG)
  • Aug. 19: Pride and Prejudice (2005, PG) — 20th anniversary and 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth

Guests can enjoy food and drinks from nearby concessions, including beer and wine, from the nearby concessions tent or from Millennium Hall, according to Choose Chicago

Some items are restricted from the Great Lawn area, including animals, oversized blankets, flags, grills, and open flames. The event continues rain or shine, except in severe weather conditions such as lightning.
