The Museum of Illusions in Chicago announced its grand reopening for Saturday, November 4 as it introduces the transformed space that has nearly doubled in size. After being closed for the summer to renovate, the museum celebrated its big announcement with an exclusive preview party on Thursday, November 4.

During the preview, VIP guests explored the new and former exhibits while enjoying hors d’oeuvres, a raw bar, and signature cocktails from Boka Catering. Music and entertainment were provided by guest magician Stephen Hanthorn, DJ Mayhem, a contortionist, a stilt walker, and a juggler.

Visitors will find 20 new exhibits in the revamped Museum of Illusions  but can still enjoy fan favorites, including the mind-altering Vortex Tunnel.

Stacy Stec—director of sales and marketing at LOL Entertainment, the museum’s parent company—announced in a press release, “With our latest additions and expansion, we're pushing the boundaries even further when it comes to unraveling the mysteries of perception. We've curated Chicago-specific installations, promising guests and visitors an unprecedented journey through illusions that will surprise even our most loyal patrons.”

While VIP guests and media had a chance to test out the improved venue before the public, they weren’t the first to see the new look. In a partnership with the non-profit After School Matters, the Museum of Illusions invited Chicago high school students to test out the space on Wednesday. The partnership will ensure proceeds from all ticket sales through early 2024 goes to supporting the school program, which gets students involved in the arts, communications and leadership, sports and STEM.

Purchase tickets on the Museum of Illusions website for under $30 each—kids under the age of five get in free with an accompanying adult.
