Music of the Baroque will present a celebration of the animal kingdom in its upcoming series of concerts, “Birds, Frogs, Crickets, & Dogs” that will be conducted by principal guest conductor Nicholas Kramer on April 14 at the North Shore Center in Skokie, and on April 15 at the Harris Theater.

The animal kingdom will come alive through charming works for orchestra: Dogs bark in Vivaldi’s “Spring” Concerto from the famous Four Seasons. Crickets chirp in Telemann’s unusually scored Cricket Symphony, while frogs ribbit in his virtuosic concerto for violin. Delight in the “clucking” and “scratching” in Haydn’s Hen Symphony, which closes the program on a wonderfully humorous note.

Approximate running time: 1.5 hours, including intermission
