Strawberry Festival, a sweet summertime tradition, returns to Long Grove

The annual Strawberry Festival, a decades old tradition in downtown Long Grove, is returning in all its sweet summertime glory following a couple years hampered by the pandemic. The same full-scale event that has inspired so many thousands to turn out to the historic town year after year for decades is back June 24^th through 26^th.  Attendees of all ages can expect three days of strawberry-infused foods and drinks, carnival rides, family games, and live music.

 

Like always, the almighty strawberry is the star attraction at Strawberry Fest. Some of the area’s most popular restaurants, cooks, and vendors will pop-up shop to serve unique strawberry-centric cuisine. Featured items usually include things like strawberry BBQ sauces, deep fried strawberries on a stick, chocolate strawberry popcorn, strawberry kabobs, strawberry jams, strawberry fudge, funnel cakes with strawberries, strawberry smoothies, strawberry blintz, strawberry banana Nutella crepes, chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry donuts, strawberry shakes, strawberry ice cream, chocolate strawberry sundaes, and much more. A wide variety of non-strawberry-centric vendors will also be on-hand dishing out other summertime delights. 

 

For those who like to mix it up, Strawberry Fest 2022 also features live music and family entertainment. Non-stop tunes on multiple stages, from solo acts to touring bands, will take over downtown Long Grove on Strawberry Fest weekend. This year’s main stage lineup includes Kashmir (Lez Zeppelin Tribute) on Friday, Hairbangers Ball on Saturday, and ARRA on Sunday (check https://longgrove.org/festivals/strawberry-fest/ for full schedule). Meanwhile, children’s activities at the Kid’s Zone will include arts and crafts, face painting, kiddie DJs, and the legendary strawberry pie eating contests.  As in year’s past, a classic carnival with everyone’s favorite rides and games will thrill the young and young at heart.  

 

The new and improved historic downtown Long Grove, now construction-free after a major multi-year beautification rehab, is known for its wide array of independent, family owned and operated restaurants and stores. Strawberry Fest marks the kickoff to summer shopping season in town, with local merchants featuring their own sweet summertime specials throughout the event weekend. Visitors during fest weekend are invited to explore the recently beautified village and discover what makes Long Grove so flavorful.
