The highly anticipated 2024 Met Gala returns tonight to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, celebrating this year's Costume Institute exhibition "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion". The exciting exhibit will showcase around 250 garments from the Institute's permanent collection, marking the first public display for many of the pieces.
According to Vogue, this year’s theme is "The Garden of Time," based on J.G. Ballard's short story of the same name. In keeping with the theme, guests are anticipated to wear floral and botanical-themed attire.
This year's Met Gala chairs reportedly include actors Chris Hemsworth and Zendaya, along with singers Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny.
For those interested in witnessing all the stunning red carpet moments, the Met Gala's red carpet arrivals will be live-streamed on Vogue’s site and various other digital platforms beginning Monday, May 6th, at 5:00 pm CST / 3:00 pm PST.
The 2024 Met Gala not only honors fashion and the arts but also functions as a charity event for The Met’s Costume Institute. The annual event corresponds with the debut of its annual fashion exhibition and has raised millions of dollars to date.
