The Physician Magician returns to the Rhapsody Theater

Dr. Ricardo Rosenkranz returns as the Physician Magician to the Rhapsody Theater in Rogers Park. There’s a good chance; if you sit in the theater, you might end up on stage. 

I was amazed to learn he is a real doctor and a respected faculty member at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Teller of Penn & Teller Fame said, “Physician Magician is like spending a cozy evening with your jovial doctor – who just happens to command some of the rarest and most beautiful illusions in the world.”

This new production showcases several illusions that have never been seen before, and many signature classics and audience favorites, including Balsamo, last seen on the CW Network Show called Fool Us. The good doctor did ask the audience not to give away any of the act, and I will listen to him because I do not want to disappear. 

The theater entrance can be found in the back, with a lovely bar in front, where guests can relax with a cocktail before or after a show. Upon entering, I immediately loved how intimate the setting was. It reminded me of a Vegas show.

The Rhapsody Theater is an enjoyable place to catch a magical performance; originally built in 1912 and was once called the Morse Theater. The theater has been fully restored, including a new state-of-the-art sound system, and is a perfect destination for those who love to be mystified.
