The most magical time of the year is here! As of Wednesday, October 30, the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire started its performances of the holiday classic Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas.’ Known for its hit title song, ‘White Christmas’ is a timeless tradition that features two showbiz buddies and former war comrades who put on a winter pageant in order to save a struggling inn owned by their former commanding officer in Vermont. Main characters Bob Wallace and Phil Davis meet their counterparts, two talented sisters Betty and Judy Haynes and put on a dazzling show together.
The Marriott Theatre production of ‘White Christmas’ is directed and choreographed by two-time Jeff Award winner Linda Fortunato. Fellow Jeff Award winner Brad Haak provides musical direction with popular hits like “Count Your Blessings” and “I Love a Piano.”
“So many people have a fondness and love for the 1954 movie White Christmas,” said Fortunato in a press release from the organization. “While the stage adaptation is not an exact retelling, it beautifully preserves the charm and nostalgia of the original film. At its heart, ‘White Christmas’ is a story about community and connection. In relationships throughout the play, people come together to do for others, not for themselves. That spirit of selflessness and coming together for the good of others encapsulates the spirit of the holiday season and is a refreshing message in this divided world.”
Tickets to ‘White Christmas’ start at $63. Discounts are provided for students, seniors, and military; call 847-634-0200 for discounted reservations.
