Listen up, Bachelor fans: After three years in the making, ABC will premiere The Golden Bachelor, a show with the first-ever senior citizen lead in Bachelor history. This spinoff will consist of a cast of individuals 65 and older, airing every Thursday night.

Our Golden Bachelor is 71-year-old Gerry Turner from Indiana. Turner married his high school sweetheart in 1974, and the two spent 43 years together, building a family of two daughters and two granddaughters. In 2017, Turner’s wife, Toni, passed away after a bacterial infection in her liver and kidneys.

Turner is finally ready to find someone who can complete his family again, and he hopes to find his journey on the show. He is a retired restaurateur who loves to barbecue, play pickleball, relax with friends and family, go four-wheeling, and cheer for Chicago’s sports teams.

The first episode of the season will air on Thursday, September 28 at 8 p.m. and can also be streamed weekly on Hulu. Get your popcorn ready for this monumental moment in Bachelor history!
