Logan Square’s long-standing ice cream and burger stop, The Freeze, has reopened for the season along Armitage Avenue. Officially reopening last Thursday, The Freeze’s return means one thing: Spring has sprung in Chicago!

Formerly known as “Tastee-Freeze”, the beloved establishment has been a staple of Logan Square since the 1950s. The Freeze is best known for its soft serve cones and vintage, no-frills vibe.

Fans of The Freeze should enjoy this truly unique and universally recognized location while it stands. According to Redfin, the land is up for sale, signaling the owners may be ready to move on from the business amid higher prices and lower foot traffic.

This season, the neighborhood favorite has added a number of new items to its menu, including butterscotch dipped cones, meatball sandwiches, and “snow storm” slushies. Stop in to try these new treats and more, Tuesdays-Sundays from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m.
