The Jelly Belly factory in North Chicago will close this October according to multiple reports.
Parent company, Chicago-based Ferrara Candy, announced it will move production to another facility, impacting around 66 jobs at the existing factory. The plant's final day of operation will reportedly be October 11.
Ferrara is reportedly optimistic that its employees at the North Chicago facility will be able to relocate to other Chicago-area facilities. In a statement obtained by ABC7, Ferrara said, "We are focused on helping our North Chicago team members,”
“For our 66 impacted employees, we are hopeful they will stay with Ferrara in different positions and are offering the opportunity to move to open roles in our five other Chicagoland manufacturing facilities."
The company anticipates no impact on the Jelly Belly brand, its products, or service provided to customers. According to Ferrara, Jelly Belly remains a critical component of their growth trajectory.
