We are excited to present the July 2022 issue of Chicago Star! Founded during the pandemic in March 2021, this paper brought positivity to our communities when we needed it the most. We are proud to continue this mission as the go-to source for delivering uplifting news you can use to neighborhoods across the city—Streeterville, the Loop, New Eastside, West Loop, South Loop, Gold Coast, River North and River West neighborhoods. We have expanded into the suburbs as well—Lake Forest, Winnetka, Glenview, Hinsdale, Highland Park and Northfield.
Besides our print edition, we can also be seen online, through subscriptions, in nearly 400 locations across the city and suburbs including high-rises, grocery and drug stores and retail locations-- Mariano’s, CVS, Bockwinkel’s, Jewel-Osco, Sunset Foods and Potash, Bravco, Urbanspace, Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse and others.
For our current issue, we welcome a lot of new contributors. As our paper continues to grow in popularity, we are finding so many people who want to be a part of our family. People like Andy Frye (author, writer, sports expert), Howard Tullman (tech guru and board member), Bonnie Spurlock (founder of Associated Publications and board member), Israel Idonije (community leader and board member), Catie Keogh (travel expert), Joseph Luther (author, freelance writer), Michael Kutza (founder Chicago International Film Festival and board member) and Susan Berkes (freelance reporter). We also welcome back longtime contributors comedian Bridget McGuire, educator Angela Gagnon and coach Jon Cohn.
Besides the usual fun you find between the pages, this month we introduce an animal rescue segment titled “Take Me Home,” which will spotlight animals looking for forever homes from shelters across the city, as well as a new idea for the younger readers (or the young-at-heart)--a whimsical new Chicago Star Ambassador named WINDEE (named after our beautiful Windy City, illustrated by Rosemary Fanti and conceived by associate publisher Candid Candace Jordan).
