Dear Proud Chicagoan: Chicago has become an easy target for people who only know the city through headlines and social media posts. The reality is much more nuanced. Every major city faces challenges, and Chicago is no exception. But those of us who live here know the full story. We know the magic of a summer evening on the lakefront, the pride of our neighborhoods and the unmatched cultural scene.

When someone offers an unsolicited warning, I simply smile and say, "Chicago isn't perfect, but neither is anywhere else. I'll take our lakefront, restaurants, sports teams, theater and spirit any day." You don't need to defend your city. Just keep enjoying it. Chicago has survived fires, blizzards, economic downturns, and countless predictions of its demise. Yet somehow, we always come back stronger. That's what Chicago does.

The excitement around GLP-1 medications has changed the weight-loss conversation, and for some people, these medications can be life-changing when prescribed and monitored by a physician. But even doctors will tell you that lasting success still depends on healthy habits.

Whether someone uses medication or not, there is no escaping the fundamentals: balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, quality sleep, and consistency. The reason fad diets continue to thrive is simple. They promise quick results. Real lifestyle changes require patience, and that's a much tougher sell.
