On Saturday, May 10, Chicago’s iconic Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park will spring to life, signaling the official start of summer with ComEd’s 11th annual Switch on Summer celebration. Hosted by the Chicago Park District, this free event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and marks the ceremonial turning on of the historic fountain.
The festivities will feature live music, dance and cultural performances from Night Out in the Parks arts partners, including the NAJWA Dance Corps, Jabberwocky Marionettes, and Cielito Lindo Family Mariachi. Attendees can also explore art and maker stations, enjoy family-friendly activities, and access ComEd customer resources such as bill assistance and energy efficiency programs.
In a special twist, Illinois residents have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to ceremonially switch on the historic Buckingham Fountain during the event, making this year’s celebration even more memorable.
As the fountain's waters dance and the city’s skyline gleams in the background, the Switch on Summer celebration will mark the beginning of a season filled with community, culture, and connection in the heart of Chicago.
