Here’s a delicious piece of Chicago history that just happens to come with a $3.25 million price tag. The former Lincoln Park home of legendary chef Charlie Trotter is back on the market, and for anyone who remembers the culinary icon, the most intriguing feature may be hiding in the kitchen.

Trotter’s former home on Dayton Street was sold by his widow in 2014 and is now listed for $3.25 million. According to Newcity, the chef’s personal kitchen remains intact, 13 years after his death as reported in NewCity.

And this isn't just any Chicago kitchen. Trotter opened his groundbreaking restaurant, Charlie Trotter’s, in Lincoln Park in 1987, helping establish Chicago as a destination for serious fine dining. The restaurant became internationally acclaimed for its innovative cuisine and famously exacting standards before closing in 2012.

The house offers a fascinating connection to that chapter of Chicago’s culinary history. NewCity also points readers to a fresh video offering a glimpse inside the former Trotter residence, while photos of the kitchen are credited to @properties Christie’s International Real Estate.

For longtime Chicagoans, there’s something especially fun about the idea of walking through a home that once belonged to one of the city’s most influential chefs. The kitchen, in particular, gives the property a story that goes well beyond its real estate value.

And if you want to take a peek for yourself, the Instagram reel provided for this story offers another look at the property: Charlie Trotter’s former home on Instagram.
