Chicago Gourmet is getting a makeover for 2026, and this year’s food festival is bringing a little more rhythm to the table. Powered by Invesco QQQ, this popular event returns Sept. 23-27 under the new theme “Let Your Tastebuds Dance,” with several new events and formats designed to take the festival beyond its traditional weekend lineup. The 2026 edition brings together more than 150 chefs and tastemakers from Chicago and around the country.

The biggest change is the addition of four new or newly expanded experiences: Global Stage Dinner, Asian Night Market, Chef Demos and the Dine Around Series.
New: Global Stage Dinner
The festival opens Sept. 23 with the new Global Stage Dinner, a ticketed, multi-course experience on the Pritzker Pavilion stage in Millennium Park. The dinner pairs food with live dance performances, with each course inspired by the chef’s culinary background.
The lineup includes Miami chef and restaurateur Lorena Garcia, New York City chef Kwame Onwuachi, along with Chicago favorites Tony Priolo and John Shields. The three-hour experience is presented by Square.
New: Asian Night Market
Also debuting Sept. 23 is the Asian Night Market, bringing the festival to Bridgeport’s Zhou B Art Center for a late-night street-food experience.
Hosted by Thai Dang and Beverly Kim, the event will feature Asian-inspired bites, music and specialty cocktails in a neon-lit market atmosphere. Participating chefs include Joe Fontelera of Boonie’s Filipino Restaurant, Gene Kato of Momotaro, Aaron Kabot of Chef’s Special Cocktail Bar, Helen Nguyen of Saigon Social and Cô Lạc, and others.
It’s a decidedly different vibe from the white-tablecloth side of Chicago Gourmet, and that’s exactly the point.
New: Chef Demos return to center stage
Another addition for 2026 is a series of live Chef Demos on the Pritzker Pavilion stage Saturday, Sept. 26.
The interactive demonstrations give guests a chance to watch some of the festival’s biggest culinary names work their magic and share tips for recreating their dishes at home. The lineup includes Stephanie Izard and Lee Anne Wong, Rick Bayless and Diana Dávila, Tony Mantuano with Takashi Yagihashi and John Hogan, Art Smith with Fleetwood Covington, and Sarah Grueneberg with Chris Shepherd.
Chef Demo tickets are an add-on to Grand Cru tickets.

New: Dine Around takes Chicago Gourmet citywide
Perhaps the most significant expansion is the new Dine Around Series, running Sept. 1-18.
Instead of waiting for the festival to arrive at Millennium Park, diners can start celebrating nearly three weeks early at participating restaurants throughout Chicagoland. Nearly 80 restaurants are taking part with special Chicago Gourmet-inspired dishes, prix fixe menus, cocktails, wine pairings and other limited-time offerings.
There’s also a little incentive to eat your way around town. Guests who spend $50 or more at a participating restaurant can enter to win a Chicago Gourmet VIP experience that includes a two-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, four tickets to Hamburger Hop, four Grand Cru Session 2 tickets, four Chef Demo tickets and a gourmet swag bag.
National stars meet Chicago culinary royalty
The 2026 lineup also brings an impressive collection of out-of-town talent to Chicago, including Kwame Onwuachi, Lorena Garcia, Lee Anne Wong, Chris Shepherd, Cheetie Kumar, Fleetwood Covington and Helen Nguyen.
They’ll join a who’s-who of Chicago culinary talent, including Rick Bayless, Stephanie Izard, Sarah Grueneberg, Joe Flamm, Art Smith, Erick Williams, Thai Dang, Beverly Kim and Diana Dávila.
The main festival action remains centered on the Harris Theater Rooftop at Millennium Park, with Tacos & Tequila on Thursday, Hamburger Hop on Friday, Grand Cru on Saturday and Rise & Shine Gourmet closing out the weekend Sunday.
Hamburger Hop will once again pit chefs against one another for burger bragging rights, while Grand Cru brings more than 30 chefs together with premium wines and spirits. The weekend finale, Rise & Shine Gourmet, adds a country cookout feel and line dancing to the Sunday brunch.
There’s even an early warm-up: Gourmet Tailgate returns Sept. 13 at Utopian Tailgate, giving foodies a chance to watch the Bears while sampling elevated takes on game-day favorites.
With its new dance-inspired programming, citywide restaurant series and expanded mix of national and local chefs, Chicago Gourmet 2026 is clearly aiming to be more than a weekend food festival. This year, the party starts early, spreads across the city and, if the organizers get their way, keeps everyone moving.
Chicago Gourmet 2026 runs Sept. 23-27, with Dine Around programming beginning Sept. 1. The festival benefits the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, which supports youth and workforce development within the restaurant industry.
Chicago Gourmet 2026 brings new events, national chefs, Dine Around dining and a dance-inspired twist to Chicago’s culinary festival.
