Chicago Gourmet, the city’s premier foodie event, will be returning September 21 through 24 at various locations around town. Gather up your friends and your appetites and get ready for a long weekend of yum.
First stop? South of the border. Tacos & Tequila, hosted by Chef Rick Bayless and presented by US Foods and The Spice House, brings the heat Thursday, September 21 (7 pm – 10 pm), on the Harris Theater rooftop at Millennium Park. On your right, loads of scrumptious tacos from talented local chefs. On your left, premium agave spirits, specialty cocktails, and live music under the stars. What are you waiting for? Taco it all in.
Next – Get. Fired. Up. Hosted by Chef Stephanie Izard, the fan favorite Hamburger Hop, presented by DoorDash, SYSCO and Blue Moon, takes over the Harris Theater rooftop on Friday, September 22 (6 pm to 9 pm), with great chefs, sizzling burgers, cold beer, wine and spirits, rollicking DJ music and spectacular skyline views. Add a nightcap at Late Night Gourmet, and day two is a must-do.
Ahhh, the exquisite Grand Cru, presented by UnitedHealthcare and Lexus, awaits on day three. Choose an afternoon session (team sun!) or evening session (team stars!) on the Harris Theater rooftop Saturday, September 23. Then, sit back and relax while sipping the world’s finest wines & spirits in one hand and savoring amazing cuisine from award-winning chefs with the other. Perfection. Pro tip: Snapping pics with your hands full is hard. Travel in pairs – or groups! (Session 1: 2 pm -5 pm; Session 2: 7 pm – 10 pm; Location: Harris Theater Rooftop, 205 E. Randolph St.)
Day four dawns with Rise & Shine Gourmet. Hosted by Chefs (and friends!) Art Smith and Lorena Garcia, this brunch starts Sunday, September 24 (11 am – 3 pm) off right with a family-style brunch and sensational cocktails on Chicago's famed Navy Pier. (Location: Chef Art Smith's Reunion, Navy Pier, 700 E. Grand Ave.)
Not ready to say auf wiedersehen? Prost! In The Park, hosted by Chef Sarah Grueneberg September 24 (1 – 4 p.m.) and presented by Krombacher, has you covered. This cheery Oktoberfest on Sunday afternoon has loads of delicious beers and local chefs serving up gourmet delights. Grab a brat and a brew with your crew and soak up this Sünday Fünday on the Harris Theater rooftop.
