Chicago’s 2026 festival calendar has officially been unveiled by Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and it’s one of the most exciting lineups in recent memory. Spanning from spring into the holiday season, the schedule blends beloved classics with neighborhood favorites and citywide culture‑building events that showcase the city’s diversity and creativity.

Spring Into Action: Markets & Early Events
Chicago Farmers Markets and Maxwell Street Market return May through October, offering local produce, handmade goods, and cultural foods across neighborhoods.
The Memorial Day Wreath‑Laying Ceremony & Parade on May 23 kicks off the traditional festival season with community pride and ceremony.

Summer Music & Street Fairs (June – August)
As temperatures rise, Chicago heats up with live music in every genre:
Chicago Blues Festival — A city classic featuring world‑class blues performances over four days in Millennium Park and other stages from June 4–7.
Millennium Park Summer Music Series and Summer Film Series bring free outdoor concerts and films to Jay Pritzker Pavilion most Mondays, Thursdays, and Tuesdays through the summer.
Taste of Chicago returns to Grant Park July 8–12 with local eats, music, and waterfront energy — a must‑attend foodie celebration.
Chicago Gospel Music Festival (July 24–25) offers uplifting performances from soulful artists.
Chicago Air & Water Show transforms the lakefront with impressive aerial performances and water stunts in mid‑August.
