Chicago’s Guaranteed Rate Field—home of the White Sox—is set to host a historic Pope Leo XIV celebration on June 14, 2025. This event will honor the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American to lead the Catholic Church and a native of the Chicago area. The Archdiocese of Chicago has partnered with the Chicago White Sox to organize a day expected to draw thousands from the city and surrounding region. Tickets will be available starting Friday, May 30, through Ticketmaster, priced affordably at $5 to ensure broad community accessibility

Local businesses near Guaranteed Rate Field anticipate a significant economic boost, with restaurants, hotels, and retailers preparing for increased foot traffic and sales. The event is expected to create a positive ripple effect for the South Side neighborhoods of Bridgeport and Armour Square, where large-scale gatherings traditionally drive commerce and community engagement

The celebration begins at 12:30 p.m. and includes live entertainment, film presentations, and a special video message from Pope Leo XIV, which will debut at the event and be aimed especially at young people worldwide. Chuck Swirsky, a prominent Chicago sports broadcaster, will serve as master of ceremonies, and Cardinal Blase Cupich will lead a Mass on the field at 4 p.m. This program is designed to appeal to families, youth and longtime residents, underscoring Chicago’s commitment to inclusivity and civic unity

The collaboration between the Archdiocese of Chicago and the White Sox highlights the importance of partnerships in fostering both economic growth and community engagement. By leveraging the iconic White Sox stadium and the historic significance of Pope Leo XIV’s election, Chicago is positioning itself at the intersection of religious heritage and urban culture, creating a landmark occasion for the city and its residents.
