GiGi’s Playhouse celebrated its 20th anniversary at its annual “i have a voice” Gala. The gala attracted 600 guests and raised over $750,000 to develop and provide free, life-changing programming and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Gigi’s Playhouse serves 30,000 families in 83 countries through its growing network of 57 Down Syndrome Achievement Centers and Virtual Playhouses.

Co-hosted by the organization’s namesake, GiGi Gianni, a 20-year-old with Down syndrome, along with former Chicago Bears wide receiver Wendell Davis and model/actress Amanda Booth, the inclusive, black-tie affair also featured an appearance from Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet, as well as a special performance by former American Idol star Grace Kinstler.
“It was incredible seeing so many of our friends, family and supporters join in celebration with us,” said Nancy Gianni, founder and chief belief officer of GiGi’s Playhouse. “When GiGi was born 20 years ago and we started the original GiGi’s Playhouse, I couldn’t have imagined the massive impact we would have not only on our community, but on a global scale. A message of acceptance and believing is close to home for everyone, and with the funds raised tonight, we’re one step closer to creating a world that truly embraces us all.”

The night kicked off with a lively cocktail hour, followed by an emotional performance from Kinstler and GiGi’s Playhouse participants. Booth shared her personal experience of having a son with Down syndrome, and GiGi Gianni spoke on her journey as the face and voice of the organization. Nancy Gianni closed out the dinner with an inspiring speech, discussing the organization’s incredible growth and its future as a global network. Then came a silent and live auction that included VIP Taylor Swift concert tickets, an authenticated, signed Michael Jordan poster and more, followed by live music and dancing from 7th Heaven.
