'Groundhog Day' cast to reunite for Harold Ramis tribute at Harry Caray's

In a nostalgic gathering that pays tribute to the late Harold Ramis, the cast of the beloved 1993 comedy "Groundhog Day" is set to reunite in Chicago on February 2, 2024. This event marks the 10th anniversary of Ramis' passing and provides fans with an opportunity to honor his extraordinary contributions to the world of film. The celebration will take place at Harry Caray's Tavern Navy Pier, located at 700 East Grand Avenue, Chicago, with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. CST on Groundhog Day.

In attendance will be cast members including Brian Doyle-Murray, Stephen Tobolowsky, Marita Geraghty, Robin Duke, David Pasquesi, Peggy Roeder, and Richard Henzel. The reunion is particularly significant as it marks the first official gathering of the celebrated cast since the film's release. The participation of Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell is also anticipated, pending their availability.

The ceremony will commence with a special moment at precisely 3:00 p.m., echoing the iconic scene from "Groundhog Day" accompanied by the song "I Got You Babe." Alderman Brendan Reilly will read a proclamation declaring it Harold Ramis Day in Chicago.

Transforming into a Groundhog Day wonderland, Harry Caray's Tavern will feature food and beverages inspired by the movie's Tip Top Café. The venue will also showcase various artifacts from Harold Ramis' illustrious career, including Bill Murray's Armani coat worn in "Groundhog Day" and items from "Ghostbusters."

Navy Pier will play a crucial role in the festivities, screening the film and soundtrack inside the Fifth Third Bank Family Pavilion. A groundhog image will be featured on the Centennial Wheel, and several restaurants on the Pier will offer Groundhog Day specials. Navy Pier's Sable Hotel will temporarily become the "Pennsylvanian Hotel" in homage to the movie.
