Derrick Rose is set to serve as the Grand Marshal for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race’s Grant Park 165 on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Grant Park. The Chicago Bulls legend and 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player will deliver the iconic “Drivers, Start Your Engines” command, marking a significant moment in the third annual running of the NASCAR Cup Series race through the heart of downtown Chicago.

Born and raised in Chicago, Derrick Rose became the youngest MVP in NBA history at age 22, leading the Chicago Bulls to the league's best record during the 2010–11 season. Over eight seasons with his hometown team, he earned three NBA All-Star selections and was named the 2009 NBA Rookie of the Year. His explosive athleticism and deep connection to the city have made him one of Chicago's most beloved sports figures. In recognition of his contributions, the Chicago Bulls plan to retire his jersey during the 2025–26 season.

The Grant Park 165 is a 75-lap, 165-mile race that winds through a 2.2-mile street course in downtown Chicago, passing landmarks such as Michigan Avenue, South Columbus Drive, and DuSable Lake Shore Drive, with the start-finish line near Buckingham Fountain. This event is part of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season and serves as the second race in the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Challenge.
