A new late-night dining spot has taken root in Logan Square with the opening of The Radicle, the latest concept from the team behind the acclaimed Daisies. Located in Daisies’ original home at 2523 N. Milwaukee Ave., the bar and restaurant officially opened on Jan. 7, 2026, bringing an aperitivo-driven cocktail culture and seafood-forward menu to one of Chicago’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

Led by chef-owner Joe Frillman, a multiple-time James Beard semifinalist, The Radicle blends coastal Italian drinking traditions with Midwestern ingredients and hospitality. The concept is designed to capture a relaxed, late-night energy- something Frillman says has faded in Logan Square since the pandemic. The goal is simple: a welcoming place where guests can drop in for a quick spritz after work, linger over small plates, or end the night with a well-crafted cocktail.

The restaurant’s name comes from the first root that emerges from a seed, an appropriate metaphor for a concept that returns the Daisies team to where their success began. The original Daisies location had sat vacant since 2023 when the popular pasta-focused restaurant moved down the street to a larger space to accommodate its growing following.

At The Radicle, the focus shifts from Daisies’ pasta-driven menu to a mix of seafood, snacks and pizza meant to pair easily with drinks. Early menu highlights include deviled eggs topped with trout roe, fried lake fish, chilled seafood with Campari aioli and inventive pizzas such as clam pie with potatoes and garlic. Vegetable-forward dishes remain part of the lineup as a nod to the culinary style that made Daisies famous.

The beverage program is a major draw. Overseen by bar director Nicole Yarovinsky, the menu leans into bitter, bright flavors typical of Italian aperitivo culture, with cocktails like the Sunday Negroni and the Sbagliato Rossini. Affordability is part of the appeal, with cocktails priced around $10 and a curated selection of sparkling wines and Champagne.

Designed by Chicago firm Debaun Studio, the space maintains much of the original layout but has been refreshed with a warm, intimate feel suited to lingering over drinks. Sustainability - another hallmark of the Daisies brand - remains a priority, with many furnishings repurposed and a continued focus on locally sourced ingredients from regional farms.

The Radicle also offers flexibility for private gatherings. The venue can host up to about 75 guests for cocktail-style events and includes a smaller section that accommodates more intimate groups.

Open evenings with hours stretching as late as 2 a.m. on weekends, The Radicle is positioning itself as a neighborhood hangout where food, drinks and community intersect. For Frillman and his team, it’s a chance to return to their roots, while giving Logan Square a new reason to stay out a little later.
