Rainbows for All Children marks National Children's Grief Awareness Day with Paddles for Rainbows, a Nov. 19 pickleball tournament at Dinx Social Club in Highland Park.
As National Children’s Grief Awareness Day approaches, Rainbows for All Children is inviting the community to pick up a paddle and help bring greater attention to an issue that often goes unnoticed: the grief children experience when their families change or a parent is no longer present.
The organization will mark the occasion on Thursday, November 19, with Paddles for Rainbows, a pickleball tournament at Dinx Social Club in Highland Park. Beginning at 5 p.m., the event will combine an evening of friendly competition with an opportunity to support awareness of children's grief and the importance of helping young people navigate difficult life changes.

Rainbows for All Children is a nonprofit organization that provides in-school support for children experiencing grief associated with the death of a parent, parental divorce or the absence of a parent. Through its counseling-based programs, the organization gives children a safe and supportive environment to express their feelings, connect with peers facing similar circumstances and develop healthy ways to cope with loss and family transitions. While adults often have access to support systems during difficult periods, children can struggle to articulate what they are experiencing. Rainbows works to ensure they don't have to navigate those emotions alone.

National Children's Grief Awareness Day, observed annually on November 19, encourages communities to recognize the impact of grief on children and raise awareness about the need for appropriate support and resources.
The Paddles for Rainbows tournament offers a lively way to bring that message to the community while introducing more people to the organization's work. Whether participants are seasoned pickleball players or simply interested in supporting the cause, the evening will put the focus on making sure every child experiencing loss knows they are not alone.
