Shaping up Chicago: Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear arrives in Gold Coast

This 9,700-square-foot space, previously occupied by Wintrust Bank, was acquired by Chicago-based developer L3 Capital for $21.5 million, underscoring the value and potential of this coveted location.

Since its online debut in 2019, Skims has rapidly evolved from an online-only brand into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise, expanding its offerings from shapewear to include loungewear, swimwear, and menswear collections. The brand's innovative approach and commitment to inclusivity have garnered a global following, making its products highly sought after.

Prior to this development, Chicagoans could access Skims products locally only through a limited selection at Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue or by shopping online. The introduction of a dedicated Skims storefront not only enhances the brand's presence in the Midwest but also enriches Chicago's Gold Coast retail corridor, known for its blend of luxury and contemporary fashion destinations.

While an official opening date has yet to be announced, the anticipation is palpable.
