The iconic Tavern on Rush will reopen its doors this summer on the ground and second floor of the luxury hotel, Thompson Chicago, at 1015 N. Rush Street, according to Stefani Restaurant Group. The upscale, modern steakhouse and bar will carry on its 25-year legacy in the heart of Gold Coast right across from its original location.

In partnership with Oxford Capital Group, LLC and the ownership group of Thompson Chicago, this reimagined Tavern on Rush aims to bring the nostalgia, energy and charm patrons knew and loved with a modernized and fresh approach. The two-level, 16,000 square feet space includes a main dining room, cocktail lounge, bar, outdoor patio and multiple rooms for private events. The decor will provide a modernized and refined look while staying true to the approachable and comfortable ambiance that helped grant the success of the former space for nearly 25 years.
“Community is and always will be at the heart of Tavern on Rush. As this short-term retirement draws to a close, we look forward to opening our doors once again to those who have loved us for the last 25 years, and those who have yet to meet us,” said owner Phil Stefani.

Tavern on Rush will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, and brunch on the weekends, with the menu featuring the finest USDA, prime-aged steaks and chops, fresh seafood and much more. Guests can also enjoy a robust beverage program featuring a curated and extensive wine list and an elevated cocktail menu. Tavern on Rush will provide room service for the hotel and catering for the banquets on the third and fourth floors.
Stefani Restaurant Group has plans to bring back many of the former staff members from the original location, including maître d’ extraordinaire, Benny Nadzaku, who served as one of the faces of (the former) Tavern on Rush for its entirety and has been with the Stefani Restaurant Group for over 40 years.
