’Twas the night before Christmas in Chicago so bright,
The skyline stood sparkling in soft winter light.
The Bean caught the glow of the city’s warm cheer,
While skaters spun circles, laughter ringing clear.
The L trains hummed gently above streets below,
As snow dusted State Street with a silvery glow.
The Magnificent Mile glittered, dressed to impress,
Windows on Macy’s in holiday dress.
Navy Pier twinkled out over the lake,
While the Windy City paused for tradition’s sake.
Deep-dish dreams danced in each household’s delight,
With Italian beef waiting till late in the night.
From Wrigley to Hyde Park, from Bronzeville to Gold Coast,
Hope wrapped the city from post to lamppost.
Church bells rang softly, a carol took flight,
Echoing peace through the cold, quiet night.
So, here’s to Chicago, so festive, so true,
With big-city heart and small-town spirit too.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night,
From the city that shines in holiday light.
