Two Chicago hotels have once again earned bragging rights among the city’s luxury hospitality elite, retaining their coveted two-key designation in the 2026 Michelin Guide hotel selection.
The recognition puts these two properties among the hotels Michelin considers worthy of an exceptional stay and they’re both familiar names to anyone who knows Chicago’s luxury hotel scene.
So, which two Chicago hotels made the list again? Keep reading...
The answer is The Langham Chicago and The Peninsula Chicago, both of which retained their two Michelin Keys for 2026.
The Michelin Key is the hotel equivalent of the MICHELIN Star, recognizing properties that stand out for their overall guest experience rather than simply their dining. Michelin inspectors anonymously evaluate hotels based on a range of factors, including architecture and design, quality and consistency of service, individuality, value and the property’s connection to its destination.
For The Langham Chicago, the honor continues a run of recognition for the sophisticated hotel occupying the first 13 floors of the landmark Mies van der Rohe-designed building along the Chicago River.
The hotel is known for its floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping views of the river, skyline and Lake Michigan, along with its Chuan Spa and dining and lounge offerings. Its location puts guests close to some of the city’s best-known shopping, dining and cultural attractions while giving the hotel a distinctly Chicago setting.

The Peninsula Chicago, meanwhile, continues to hold its place among the city’s most celebrated luxury hotels. Located along Michigan Avenue, the property is known for its polished service, elegant accommodations, spa and dining experiences, including Shanghai Terrace.
The continued two-Key recognition is particularly notable because Michelin Keys are not simply handed out for luxury or a recognizable name. Inspectors consider the complete experience, from the design and character of the property to the quality of its service and how successfully it reflects its destination.
The 2026 Michelin Guide selection includes hundreds of recognized hotels across the United States, with properties receiving one, two or three Keys. Two Keys signify an “exceptional stay,” while three Keys represent an “extraordinary stay.”
Chicago also added two new one-Key hotels to this year’s list: Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and Park Hyatt Chicago.

Other Chicago properties retaining Michelin Key recognition include Pendry Chicago, Chicago Athletic Association, The Gwen, Viceroy Chicago and Waldorf Astoria Chicago.
For The Langham Chicago and The Peninsula Chicago, however, the 2026 announcement is about maintaining a distinction they already earned, and reminding Chicago that when it comes to luxury accommodations, these two addresses continue to be very much in the conversation.
