Start polishing your deck shoes—Chicago’s lakefront is getting a brand-new summer tradition. Set against the sparkling backdrop of Burnham Harbor, the inaugural Windy City Boat & Yacht Show will sail into town June 11-14, 2026, promising a splashy new celebration of all things boating, luxury, and lake life.

The show is organized by Informa Markets in partnership with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Harbors, and Suntex Marina. It will transform Burnham Harbor into a floating showroom of more than 150 boats, from sleek 30-foot sailboats to 90-foot power yachts. Unlike the typical indoor expo center vibe, this in-water experience offers guests the chance to step aboard vessels, take test rides, and dive into the latest marine tech while soaking up views of the city’s skyline.

“Chicago’s boating community has long expressed the need for an in-water show, and we’re excited to bring this vision to life at the perfect location,” said Andrew Doole, president of U.S. Boat Shows for Informa Markets, in a statement. “It’s about embracing the boating lifestyle in a way that seamlessly connects the water, the city, and the community.”

The event will go beyond just boats. Expect expansive on-land exhibits filled with the newest marine accessories, electronics, and luxury watercraft essentials. Hands-on learning stations and interactive displays will welcome newcomers and seasoned mariners alike, while VIP lounges and waterfront dining areas create space for networking and lakeside lounging.

The location, steps from Soldier Field and the Museum Campus, was no accident. With easy access to public transportation and ample parking, the organizers hope to draw a wide audience of local enthusiasts, global brands, and curious newcomers.

“Chicago’s lakefront is home to the nation’s largest municipal harbor system,” said Chicago Park District CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “We look forward to showcasing our beautiful harbors and celebrating another amazing boating season in Chicago.”

Industry leaders are already anchoring in. Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales signed the first vendor contract, and SkipperBud’s Yachting Supercenter was quick to follow.

“This new in-water show is perfectly positioned to help us better connect with our customers,” said Ron Silvia, VP of sales at Jefferson Beach, in a statement.

Informa Markets, known for producing top-tier events like the Fort Lauderdale and Monaco yacht shows, aims to make this a new fixture on Chicago’s summer calendar. “This show is about creating a long-term destination for marine lovers,” said Larry Berryman, VP ofU.S. boat shows at Informa Markets.

So whether you’re a boating pro, weekend sailor, or simply in it for the sun and spectacle, mark your calendar. The Windy City Boat & Yacht Show is ready to make waves.
