On Saturday, May 20 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., the Anti-Cruelty Society — an animal welfare organization and shelter in River North — will host its 29th Annual BARK fundraiser at Soldier Field. After almost three decades in operation, the event is Chicago’s oldest dog-friendly and family-friendly outdoor fundraiser. This year’s festival aims to raise $250,000 to support over 20,000 animals this year by feeding, sheltering, and caring for them.

Over the last few months, more than 1,200 people have come together in teams to raise money prior to the fundraiser. So far, teams have raised just over $62,000. Animal Dog lovers and their furry friends are encouraged to come out to celebrate and participate in a two-mile walk along the lakefront prior to festival activities.

Along with music, patrons can enjoy:

  • Complimentary food and drink, including a beer for ages 21+

  • An exclusive VIP (Very Important Pupper) area

  • Canine agility courses

  • Dog-friendly demonstrations

  • Pet-focused giveaways

  • Carnival games

  • Family-friendly activities

Purchase tickets to earn a free t-shirt and attend the event, and choose to register as either a fundraising team or individual. Fundraising teams must commit to raise at least $50 and will receive a complimentary BARKpack with pet tools and toys as well as potential access to VIP areas and onstage recognition.
