The Chicago Parks District will welcome the return of the Firebird Dance pop-up this June as part of its Night Out In the Park event series. In choreography with Guggenheim Fellow Nejla Yatkin, the event will feature interactive meditations and performances led by the acclaimed dancer.

From June 8 through July 8, Yatkin will perform 16 dance meditations at various Chicago parks, inspired by the mythical Firebird and the beauty of our natural world. Audiences are welcome to connect with their surroundings by joining in unique guided movements at the end of each dance.

The pop-up series encourages guests to create their own movements, costumes, and sounds to be showcased in the final event, the Firebird parade and celebration on July 8.

The Firebird dance pop-up series is free to the public and will include performances at parks across the city. Visit the Chicago Parks District site for a complete list of locations, dates, and additional information.
