The 16th Annual “Gaming for Green” returns on Thursday, June 8th, at Galleria Marchetti—this annual Texas hold ‘em poker tournament and casino night benefits Chicago Gateway Green. Guests will enjoy live music, cocktails, Italian specialties, and charitable gaming with an opportunity to win over $20,000 in prizes.

The top ten poker players will receive prizes, and the top player will win a $10,000 seat at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. As Kenny Rogers would say, “You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.” I suggest waiting to count your money until you’ve purchased tickets to attend.

Chicago Gateway Green is a not-for-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to keeping Chicago green. Their programs include the beautification of Chicago through landscape enhancement, litter and graffiti removal, and public art installations. The organization was founded by Donald J. DePorter in 1986. Since then, they have removed over 1.5 million pounds of litter and planted over 4,000 trees, 80,000 shrubs, and 130,000 perennials. Each project enhances the green spaces of the city.

This spring, they plan on planting a Butterfly Garden at the outbound ramp of the Dan Ryan at 35th Street to promote a habitat with native plants for Monarch butterflies. This event, the non-profit’s largest for the year, helps secure the necessary funds to build and maintain such green spaces.
