Beginning on Valentine’s Day, the Lincoln Park and Garfield Park conservatories will launch two elaborate flower shows just in time for the dawn of the spring season. In partnership with the Chicago Parks District, the conservatories welcome visitors from across the city to celebrate the magic of spring with two unique walk-through experiences.

The “Sweet Gnome Chicago” flower show will blossom at the Lincoln Park conservatory while the Garfield Park conservatory will welcome the “What’s in a Name?” flower show. Both shows will run through Mothers Day, May 12, 2024.

“Sweet Gnome Chicago” combines flowers and whimsical ornaments for the ultimate spring flower spectacle. Nearly 300 gnomes will decorate each display house, set amongst gorgeous flowering shrubs and greenery. Guests can marvel at arrangements of tulips, lilies, violas, and hundreds of other beautiful blooms.

“What’s in the Name?” at the Garfield Park Conservatory explores the history and scientific meanings of botanical names, alongside a captivating floral display. Botanical names are an important facet of plant identification, and with “What’s in a Name?” guests will learn how to identify plants in the wild, all on their own!

“When the weather is daunting, there are no better venues to comfortably interact with nature than the Lincoln and Garfield Park Conservatories,” said Superintendent and CEO Rosa Escareño.

“Visitors will forget all about a gloomy spring day once they step into these historic edifices. Our staff’s creative taste and expertise in botany and horticulture will surely pique the interests of Chicagoans of any age.”

Pre-registration is required for both “Sweet Gnome Chicago” and “What's in the name?”. Visit the Chicago Parks District site to save your spot.
