Greeting cards

Chicago Star Media columnist Jon Cohn offers a humorous take on cards to avoid sending this holiday season.

1)  2020 was brutal

but don’t think we’re done --

things may yet get worse in 2021.

Happy New Year!

2) Our family finally gathered, together in one room

I think I like it better, when we did it all by Zoom!

Merry Christmas,

Love, Mom

3) Ring in the New year, COVID virus be darned,

but if no one shows up to your party—don’t be alarmed!

4) I have always admired you from afar,

Now because of the pandemic I have to

(maybe it's better that way)

Merry Christmas,

Love, Henry

5)  Enjoy the holidays, you know you're the best

My present to you? I got a negative test!

Merry Christmas,

Love, Carolyn

6)  You wear a mask in the morning, you wear a mask at night

I know you're being extra careful, but it's not a very pretty sight

Happy Holidays!

Love, your husband

7)  On the 19th day of COVID my true love gave to me.....

(fill in the blank)

Happy New Year!
