New Eastside for Charity has launched a Holiday Food Drive that aims to provide 275,000 meals for people who live in the community.
Informing visitors that, “every $1 can help provide 3 meals,” the campaign’s website lists the amount donated by every property in the Lakeshore East neighborhood.
On the afternoon of November 25, The Parkshore Condominiums ranked as the highest funder with six donations that collectively equaled 3,047 meals. The Lancaster held the number-two spot with six donations equaling 1,854 meals.
The site’s user-friendly interface allows donors to browse through virtual “aisles” to select the exact items they wish to provide. It includes photographs, quantity and descriptions of everything available in four specific categories: produce, canned goods, protein & dairy, and grains.
The drive has currently reached 1% of its goal to “provide nourishing food for our neighbors at risk of hunger.” It will continue until January 9, 2021.
