Chicago nonprofit 3Arts will award $25,000 grants to ten artists for this year’s 3Arts Awards during the 13th annual 3Arts Awards Celebration, a free YouTube Live event on October 19.

Advocating for Chicago’s women artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities who work in the performing, teaching, and visual arts, 3Arts has supported more than 1,100 individuals since 2007. Besides awarding the ten $25k grants, 3Arts will also offer $2,000 Make a Wave cash grants to an additional ten artists and also announce $200,000 in new and expanded funds during the celebration.

“We believe strongly that it is not time to pull back; it’s time to give more, do more, advocate more, and invest more in the well-being of our city and its artists,” said 3Arts Executive Director Esther Grimm. “The event is being fashioned as a kind of love letter to Chicago artists, with a goal of sending joy and hope into our city and the artists who power it,” she added.

Commissioned work by 15 artists will enhance the event, including the world premiere of Sam Trump’s music video, “New World” and Nejla Yatkin’s digitally choreographed “exquisite-corpse-style” score for dancers, actors, and musicians.

National Arts Strategist Juana Guzman, 3Arts Awardee Cecil McDonald Jr., and 3Arts Board Member Masum Momaya will lead the festivities.
