Chicago Star Media is thrilled to announce that Emmy Award-winning TV and radio executive Fred Weintraub has joined the Chicago-based news organization as a contributor and will offer regular commentary about the latest topics in news.
Weintraub, an executive producer at Weigel Broadcasting Co. with more than four decades of media expertise, is known for creating the broadcast company's popular "Game of the Week," in addition to covering the British royal family as "Chicago's Royal Watcher." In 2019, Weintraub was inducted into the Silver Circle, the highest honor awarded to broadcasters by the Chicago/Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in recognition of his lifetime contributions in media.
Weintraub co-hosts the syndicated radio show "The Hannah & Fred Show" with Hannah Stanley on WCGO and SmartTalk and recently started a new show with a focus on current events, "The Worldly File," which airs nationwide via The SmartTalk Radio Network. He works primarily from London and frequently makes appearances on Chicago TV and radio stations, including WGN-AM.
Through a partnership with Chicago Star Media, Weintraub will contribute bimonthly articles to the news organization's recently launched flagship publication, the Chicago Star, and Chicago Star Media Director of Brand Development Jay Kopp will appear on "The Hannah & Fred Show" twice a month for news analysis and discussion. Chicago Star Media will also host episodes of "The Worldly File" on its website, chicagostarmedia.com.
“While I live much of the year in London, I am a born and bred Chicago guy with my finger on what is happening in my hometown," Weintraub said. "Chicago will always be home whether I am living in London or Singapore, and I am thrilled to be a contributor to Chicago Star Media and look forward to having Jay Kopp on The Hannah & Fred Show in a new segment called 'Say What.'"
Kopp said he was "very excited" to be joining the show on a biweekly basis.
"What sets Hannah and Fred apart is that both of these media veterans know what it's like to be behind the mic, on the production side, and in front of it as well," Kopp said. "Having the chance to collaborate with them is an incredible opportunity."
