Beginning Monday, April 19, all residents ages 16 and older will be eligible to sign up to receive the two-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Beginning Monday, April 19, the city of Chicago will officially enter into Phase 2 of the COVID-19 vaccine, which means all residents ages 16 and older will be eligible to sign up to receive the two-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, and noteworthy, within city limits.

Currently, under Phase 1C, Chicagoans with underlying health conditions are required to travel outside of city limits to surrounding counties to receive their vaccine shots.

Beginning next week, the two-dose Pfizer vaccine is approved for individuals age 16 and older, while the two-dose Moderna vaccine and one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine are only approved for individuals age 18 and older.

It is to be noted the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been "paused" nationwide due to reported blood clot cases.

Though available as soon as April 19, it may take several weeks for individuals to secure an appointment due to limited supply of the vaccine.

For more information on vaccine sites and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the City's COVID-19 vaccine web page.
