"Bike the Drive" returns along city's lakefront.

Grab your bike and reconnect with friends and family on a car-free Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Experience a 30-mile course that starts at Butler Park, 235 S. Columbus Drive, and continues along the lakefront. Sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, the event will take place Sunday, September 5 from 5:30 am to 10 am.

Ride as little or as much of the course as you’d like and then enjoy a post-ride festival in Grant Park. No bike? No problem! Rentals are available from Bobby's Bike Hut, Bike and Roll Chicago and On the Route Bicycles, and riders of all ages are welcome.

"Families and Friends" riding can start anytime between 5:30 am and 9:30 am, but organizers recommend beginning no later than 7am to get the most out of the ride. Between 10:30 and 11 am, traffic will be reintroduced on Lake Shore Drive.

Active Transportation Alliance, the event organizer, is a nonprofit advocacy organization working to improve conditions for walking, biking and public transit throughout Chicagoland.
