Our Chicago Cubbies are headed across the pond to play in London this summer.
The Cubs will take on their rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals, in a two-game series on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 as part of the MLB London Series. Most fans would date the rivalry back to the late 1800s. The Cardinals and Cubs were scheduled to play in London in 2020, but the game was canceled due to the pandemic.
The London venue, originally constructed for the 2012 Summer Olympics and renovated for multipurpose use shortly after, is located in Queen Elizabeth Park. It seats between 62,500 and 80,000 people.

This international game is the first for the Cubs since 2003 when they played the former Montreal Expos in San Juan. Before that, the Cubs opened their 2000 season against the New York Mets in Tokyo, Japan.
The 2023 London Series is part of the MLB World Tour, which aims to grow the global fan base. The initiative’s largest effort yet, the MLB World Tour will feature 24 regular-season games and 16 exhibition games throughout Asia, Mexico, Latin America, and Europe through the 2026 season.
In June 2019, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox played their first regular-season games in England. The summer of 2023 marks baseball’s return to England. Spring training for the Cubs is on the horizon in Mesa, Arizona, and the first preseason matchup takes place Saturday, Feb. 25 at Sloan Park against the San Francisco Giants.
There will be many fans traveling to London for this historic series. Who would you like to hear belt out the infamous 7th Inning Stretch tune, Take Me Out to the Ball Game?
