Chicago Public Schools (CPS) have announced an initiative to rename several schools, honoring several prominent historical figures.

Under the plan, Bronzeville's Melville Fuller Elementary will now be renamed James Farmer Jr. Elementary, in honor of the late civil rights leader, according to the Sun-Times.

Christopher Columbus Elementary in Ukrainian Village will be renamed Ruth Bader Ginsburg Elementary, honoring the former Supreme Court Justice, a staunch advocate of women's rights and gender equality.

James Monroe Elementary in Logan Square will become Logan Square Elementary.
